Please join in this discussion to explore how we are all researchers. Using several Ted Talks as examples, we will discuss how the people in these Ted Talks demonstrate characteristics of researchers including, curiosity, passion, asking questions, facilitating encounters, and engaging in exploration. Find the Ted Talk selections here.
Pick a Ted Talk (maybe even two!) and reflect on how this person is a researcher, engaged in questions that they are passionate about and demonstrating research as a daily practice. As you watch these stories, think about the following: What questions are they seeking to answer? What purpose is driving them? Who are they engaging with? What personal experiences shape their work? What is their story?
Then reflect and construct your own Ted Talk, what are the questions you are seeking to answer? What purpose is driving you? Who are you engaging with? What personal experiences shape your work? What is your story?
You are invited to also post your comments here about your experience in this exercise. Were there any aha moments or shifts in thinking about research? Did you draw any connections to your work or research during this exercise?
